In 2011, United Way Winnipeg provided one-time funding to aid startup of our social enterprise café. The project was such a success, United Way Winnipeg entered into a sustained funding agreement in 2017 and continues to provide operational support in the amount of $20,600 per year.
Committed to building capacity in our community, we are working with United Way of Winnipeg to facilitate an accessible space where meaningful relationships are built, individual and collective strengths are nourished, and diversity is respected and celebrated.
Funding from United Way of Winnipeg is dedicated to supporting front-end and back-end manager positions in their role as trainers and mentors for L’Arche participants and individuals with intellectual disabilities engaged at the L’Arche Café.
Larry and Tova Vickar believe in giving back to the community. Married for over 40 years, both Larry and Tova share a deep passion for helping others. Together, this couple is truly generous and over the years have supported many good causes and many charities.
In 2011, the Vickars presented L’Arche Winnipeg with a very generous donation in support of the L’Arche Café – hence, aptly named the L’Arche Tova Café. “TOVA” is a Hebrew word which translates to “Good.” Through the years, both Tova and Larry have given so much to the L’Arche Winnipeg community and we are very thankful for their philanthropic spirit.
